CEP 810
Teaching for Understanding with Computers
Year: 2009
Instructor: Carolyn McCarthy Grade: 4.0 The focus for the entire Educational Technology Certificate Program in general, and for CEP 810 in particular, is to improve teaching through technology use. This course consisted of two parallel strands: effective use of technology in education, and learning issues related to technology use. Participants work primarily with Microsoft Windows (or Macintosh in select locations), Microsoft Office, and the Internet. The use of the Internet is an integral part of the course, both because of its power to improve the effectiveness of the course and because of the importance of the Internet in its effect on education. One important benefit of the use of the Internet is the ongoing interaction it allows among participants and with instructors in between the weekend sessions. Assignments are designed to enable practicing teachers to apply their learning to immediate and actual application in their own teaching setting, often completing course work by using technology to do what they would have had to do independent of taking CEP 810.
